Traffic Pattern Update for Drop-off and Pick-up
The last two weeks of school are filled with excitement at Montemalaga. Our 5th grade classes are getting ready for their promotion on June 6 at 1:30. We are already beginning to plan for the 2017-2018 school year. We are watching enrollment numbers as we organize our classes for next year. I will keep you informed throughout the summer months.
Safety at Montemalaga continues to be an important priority. The drop-off and pick-up in the front of the school is going smoothly. Please remember to only walk in the marked crosswalks when in the parking lot. Students are never permitted in the parking lot without the parent/adult being right there with them. Parents are reminded to always move forward to allow for more cars to be in the drop-off/pick-up area. Next year, we will have last name cards for cars in order to quickly identify students and their parents.
The back gate is only to be used for grades 3, 4, and 5. For the next few weeks I would like to enforce a practice that will, hopefully, ensure the safety of our students arriving/leaving by the back gate. Drop-off and Pick-up can only happen on the curb by the gate…not across the street. We are asking that parents do not park across the street, and that parents do not walk students across the street to cars. This means that we will have one line of cars moving along the curb to drop-off/pick-up students. We have experienced some unsafe situations at the back gate and hope that this practice will remedy the situation. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
Please see me with any questions.
