It is with great pride and excitement that I write this letter of introduction as the newly appointed Principal of Montemalaga Elementary School. I was born and raised in the South Bay area by a family of educators, from classroom teachers and district administrators to college professors. My husband Tony, who is also a teacher, and I enjoy spending a lot of time with our two children and our Australian Shepherd. I have had the pleasure of working in PVPUSD for the past three years as the Assistant Principal at PVIS. There I had the pleasure of meeting some of you and some of the older siblings in your families. Additionally, I have 10 years of experience as a classroom teacher. My first love has been teaching, but I moved into administration when I found a passion for working with the school's broader community. It is with this wealth of experience, perspective, and expertise that I now join Montemalaga.
As a former classroom teacher, I worked with K-8 students as a CTE Teacher in the Hermosa Beach City School District. Elementary is a magical time for young people, and a time during which the caring adults around them cultivate their love of learning and curiosity. I believe in creating a safe environment for students in which they thrive. Students are at the center of our work in education. As such, I am committed to ensuring that your child can grow as an individual so they can reach their highest level of achievement.
I am grateful for this opportunity to work with your families in the upcoming school year. I join the Montemalaga family with a strong commitment that I will continue to make our school amazing.
