Principal's Back to School Update

Hello, Montemalaga Students and Families!

We are getting ready to kick off the 2021-2022 school year! With less than two weeks until school starts on August 25th. We are returning to our regular bell schedule. School will begin at 8:30 am each day, with the arrival of students starting at 8:15 am. See the link to our bell schedule webpage below for details:  Montemalaga Bell Schedule

We will begin this year with the following routines and protocols based on current County and Health Guidelines. In advance, I ask that our community is flexible as updates are made to guidelines. I will send out notifications and any changes that will impact our school community. My number one priority is to keep our students safe while they attend school. Please review the following information.

Green Screen:

All individuals coming to campus (students, staff, teachers, parents, etc.) will conduct a daily screening at the link below before coming to campus each day. Have the screener filled at home, as the Wi-Fi and cell service around Montemalaga is spotty. We will be using a new screener, and the link is below. If your screen is green, you come to school, and if it is red you may not come to campus. Please take a screenshot of your green screen and be prepared to show it to a staff member when you drop off your child.

Drop off and Pick up Procedures:

Our "Traffic Flow Map" and "Drop off and Pick up Guidelines" are available here.  Please review before the first day of school.

Masking:

Per LA County/Health Guidelines, all students and staff must wear masks while indoors. Masking outside is optional. Students will be spaced out when eating outside and playing. Students will be encouraged to keep socially distant.

I will continue to provide updates as guidance/protocols change. The safety of all on-campus is our highest priority. For the latest protocol guidance from the LA County Department of Health, please see the link below:

Reopening Protocols for K-12 Schools: Appendix T1 (lacounty.gov)

Food Services Update:

The District is pleased to offer complimentary breakfast and lunch to all students for the 2021-2022 school year! Optional breakfast will be provided to students during recess, and lunch will be offered through the cafeteria at lunchtime. Students will be asked to raise their hand in class every morning if they plan to get lunch from the cafeteria. In addition, water and milk will be available for cashless sale with your Titan prepaid account. More information and menus can be found on the Food Services website: www.pvpusd.net > Parents & Students > Lunch Program.
