Principal's Weekly Memo - May 13 - May 17, 2019

Montemalaga Elementary

Weekly Memo

May 20-May 24, 2019

Character Traits:  Self-Control and Loyalty

Sometimes Self-Control means putting a friend’s needs or thoughts before your own needs or thoughts-If you practice good listening and truly practice self-control, you will learn so much more about another person.  It is very important to show friends that you care.  Conversations cannot always be about you.  They need to be comfortable and respectful.  This week have a number of conversations where you show self-control and truly listen to a friend.  Making a friend feel listened to makes you feel like you have made a great choice.

Social Emotional Learning:

We are finishing the 2018-2019 school year.  I hope that you have all learned that friendship conflicts are best solved when we can calm down and use the Second Step Problem Solving Steps:

Say the problem

Think of solutions

Explore consequences

Pick the best solution

Always make good choices to Problem Solve!

Congratulations to Mrs. Field, Mr. Chin, Mr. Tappon, and Mr. Wells for being honored at the PTA Honorary Service Awards Brunch on 5/16.  Congratulations to all of our yard supervisors for also being honored that day-You all truly know how to make a difference!
