Hello Montemalaga Families,
Thank you all for participating in last week’s PTA meeting and Principal Coffee Talk. These discussions provided us with some great feedback. I am currently working on various ways to keep our students connected while in distance learning, such as a new student social, lunchtime zoom activities, clubs, and trivia events. Please stay connected with us via email and check the MM website for information about these upcoming events. If you have any great ideas on programs, please do not hesitate to reach out to me or PTA.
Our first School Site Council Meeting will take place on Tuesday, October 13th, at 3:00 pm. We will be discussing our School Plan for Student Achievement, and our English language learners program. More information to come in the upcoming weeks.
Principal’s Book Club!!!!
I want to invite our 4th and 5th-grade students to participate in my Principal’s Book Club! During the first trimester, we will be reading James and the Giant Peach. This classic book takes readers on an exciting adventure with James Trotter as he goes on the most unusual journey. If you are interested in participating in this trimesters book club, please fill out the following form. The meeting will be on Wednesday, December 9th, at 1:00 pm. Space is limited, so please sign up quickly. The book club will be on a first-come, first-serve basis. If you are not selected this round, you will be on our second-trimester list. All book club members will receive a free copy of the book, and Mrs. Tsosie will deliver a copy to your home! We will also have a special guest, Dr. Gotanda participating in our first book club.
What does it mean to be a Montemalaga Eagle? At the end of this month, I would like to take the opportunity to hear from our exceptional students. I am looking to build a spirit video where students share what it means to SOAR (Spread kindness, Observe Safety, Act responsibly, and Respect yourself and others)! If you are interested in participating, please follow directions below, and your clip could be featured at our Spirit Assembly Next Friday! When you record your clip, please say your name, grade level, and a shout out to your teacher. Then state the question and provide your answer. Please only choose one of the items below to answer.
What does it mean to be an Eagle?
What does it mean to SOAR?
How do you Spread kindness?
How do you Observe safety?
How do you Act responsibly?
How do you Respect yourself and others?
Please send in videos by Tuesday, September 22nd, by 6:00 pm. Submit your video to Mrs. Fields at firstname.lastname@example.org. In the subject title, please write MM SOAR Video.

We will host a meeting in October. Information will be emailed to those parents who have filled out the link below.
