Montemalaga Eagles Soar - Spread Kindness, Observe Safety, Act Responsibly, Respect Yourself and Others!

SOAR at Home

Please remind students to SOAR while at home.

The Following are classroom behavior expectations that your children will become familiar with throughout the school year.

I  have added the expectations from the classroom matrix that you may find helpful at home.

Spread Kindness:  Use kind words, be patient and wait your turn, share, work quietly, clean up your things/mess when done, and be a good sport.

Observe Safety:  Follow safety rules and procedures, walk inside, keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself (No hurting others physically), solve problems peacefully, and use materials, games, and books carefully.

Act responsibly:  Use Whole Body Listening (Eyes are Watching, Ears are Listening, Body is Still, and Voices are Quiet) while others are talking; follow all directions, stay on task, stay in your area, use your time wisely, and Always Try your best!

Respect yourself and others: Listen when others speak, follow directions carefully, use quiet inside voices when necessary,  clean up your things, tell the truth, and help others.

Praise your child when they follow the expectations by being as specific as possible in noticing the desired behavior.  Try not to say   "Good Job"  and "l Like/Love it," etc.

For Example," I see you are kind by sharing your crayons with your friend."

We will use the Montemalaga Gold Feather Award in class, which I will explain to students. At home, you can use a star or sticker chart, and when your child earns a certain number of stickers, they get a reward (you choose what works best for you, but remember to keep it simple).  You can even ask your child what they would like to earn within reason and make a list to choose from.  You choose what works best for your child.
