Principal’s Update - June 11, 2020

Principal’s Update June 11, 2020

Congratulations to all of our Fifth Grade students! The Montemalaga Promotion Ceremony was Tuesday, June 9 in the afternoon.  Thank you to all of the staff and parents for making our promotion so memorable.

School reopening committees continue to meet and discuss ideas and plans for the beginning of the 2020-2021 school year.  Updates will continue to be shared with you throughout the summer months.  Please feel free to email me any concerns or questions and I will share your input with the committee.

As you know, the last grading period was a new experience for us all!  Thank you staff, parents, and students for being organized, creative, and responsible.  The report card may be viewed in Aeries beginning June 16, 2020.  Due to the transition to Distance Learning in the third grading period, the third trimester report card has been amended.  Essential learner Behaviors and Academic Achievement Levels already assessed in second trimester were continued to be taught by teachers through distance learning, but were not reassessed in the third trimester.  We thank you in advance for your understanding and support during this transition.  Please reach out to your child’s teachers should you have questions or need more specific reporting for your child regarding the third trimester period of distance learning.  We assure you that staff has been working on all essential standards that can be appropriately addressed during distance learning, and will plan to readdress these skills and all skills that could not be addressed during distance learning with all grade levels to ensure students’ skill development upon the reopening of schools.

On June 16th, your child's report card will be available to view online. Report cards will not be printed due to campus closure. You may access the report cards by logging into the District's Aeries Parent Portal (see address link below). Please click on the "Grades" tab on the top menu bar, and then select "Report Card History" from the drop down menu. You may also review the video link below for a demonstration of how to view your child's report card. If you need further support or login information, please contact the PVPUSD Help Desk at either contact listed below.

I would like to welcome Mrs. Sandi Tsosie to Montemalaga.  We will continue to meet and plan to ensure for a great beginning of the school year.  She will be a wonderful addition to Montemalaga.

Next week, June 15-19 the school office will be open.  However, we will be working from the Montemalaga Library since the District will be working in the office.  Please be sure to come by the library to return any last minute items to the school.  I will be working until the end of June.  The office will then be closed until August. Dates and information will be sent to you during the summer.

Thank you all for a very memorable five years at Montemalaga.  Our grade level teams are comprised of very collaborative and dedicated teachers. Our parents are willing to help and support so many programs, activities, and the learning in the classrooms.  The support staff has been amazing! They have used their problem solving skills and have supported each other every single day of the school year!  Finally, our students have done their personal best every day and they have learned the importance of strong character development and excelling in academics.  I will truly miss the daily interactions with all of you. There is a very special place in my heart for my Montemalaga family.

Hoping that our paths continue to cross in the future- I will always cherish these years-

Mrs. Jody Pastell
